Your child/youth's health and safety are very important.
In addition to our regular health and safety protocols, the JUC Safety Team has put measures in place for our
Faith Exploration Classes in response to the pandemic (updated July 29, 2021):
Since our children under the age of 12yo cannot get vaccinated, we need to take different precautions. While we acknowledge that the mortality rate is lower in this demographic, we don't yet know what the long term effects of contracting COVID is on our children and youth. Therefore:
- Teachers and childcare workers will be required to be vaccinated.
- Masks are required for inside events; if someone refuses to wear a mask, we invite them to participate online instead.
- Classes will be kept under 20 people.
- K-5 classes will meet online/ In person depending on covid numbers
- 6th grade classes will meet in a multi-platform format to acknowledge that this class includes kids both over and under age 12.
- 7th-12th grade classes will meet in person and will follow safety guidelines outlined here.
- Childcare services are suspended until our children under 5yo are able to be vaccinated.
- HEPA filters are being purchased for all classrooms and the bathrooms, to increase Air Changes per Hour
- Attendance will be taken for contact tracing.
- If a participant tests positive for COVID, members of that person's class will be asked to stay home for the next Sunday.
- Singing will be limited to the Chalice Lighting song, and youth will be encouraged to hum.
- Snacks will be served outside after class and will be individually wrapped.
- If your child or youth is showing symptoms of illness, please do not come to church.
